i think the lush on the background does more harm to the piece then good. reimu and marisa themselves are fine but the background can be a bit distracting. i think you would benefit if you'd add a road leading to the shrine with a few small pillars with some clear skies instead.
that aside,is that gensokyo's version of sprite im seeing?

neat style and great use of colors! never really played a zelda game before but it won't stop me from enjoying the art (and the timeless CDI cutscenes)
